5 fun family-friendly activities for February

February 08, 2018

February can be a tough month for entertainment. While it's full of holidays to celebrate including Valentine’s Day and Black History Month, the weather can sometimes be tricky in the Midwest, which leads to lots of time spent indoors. Luckily we are in the business of fun at Trout Lodge & Camp Lakewood, so we have compiled a list of five things you can do to keep the kiddos (and yourself) entertained without having to set foot outside. We also included one bonus one just in case we have a random, early sneak peek of spring. Make your own Valentine’s Day cards using crafting materials and supplies you already have around the house. Have a V-Day themed picnic with heart-shaped sandwiches and red snacks such as strawberries or apples. You can even make cute little heart kabobs with your fruit! Write letters to out-of-town relatives and friends. Have an indoor "camp out" with sleeping bags, a tent, board games, and s'mores. Blow up some balloons, toss 'em in the air, and don't let them touch the ground. Bonus activity: Get outside and have an outdoor family scavenger hunt of things found only in nature.
