YMCA Camp Lakewood is a co-ed summer residential camp for ages 6-17. Set amidst 5,000 beautiful woodland acres with a private 360-acre lake, Camp Lakewood is a true escape. Your child will forget all about television, video games, and mp3 players while discovering the ultimate childhood experience, all within a safe and trusted environment.

Programs at Camp Lakewood are based on the YMCA's five core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith. We believe in making your camper stronger in spirit, mind and body! At Camp Lakewood, your camper can attend our Traditional Summer Camp Program, participate in the Ranger or Junior Ranger Programs, work on leadership skills in our Leaders In Training Program (LIT), or focus on a special elective like Horsemanship. We also have 4-day, 3-night programs like Mini-Camp, Tween Camp, and Pre-Teen Camp.

Campers participate in traditional summer camp activities like swimming, horseback riding, climbing tower, zip line, archery, arts & crafts, campfires, and many more amazing activities. But further, YMCA Camp Lakewood believes that campers should experience life lessons via their ABC’s:

Accomplishment: Through various activities, children are encouraged to reach inside themselves to set, accomplish and even exceed goals they set for themselves, with reward of learning that they can do things they didn’t think they could and how good that feels. Remembering these feelings will serve children well into the future when setting goals for education, career and beyond.

Belonging: Making friends is an important part of camp life, and is the perfect setting to learn the skills of being outgoing, blending well with others of all ages, and respect for others’ thoughts and opinions. Camaraderie, the feeling of belonging and being a part of something special are critical self-worth experiences that help shape a child’s positive outlook.

Character: Having a good moral base from which to draw is a very important component of a well-rounded, well-adjusted and well-balanced child. Camp life is full of opportunities for children to learn good character habits that will last a lifetime.

We welcome children of all nationalities and denominations and pride ourselves on the cultural diversity of our campers and counselors.

Inclusion Services:
The YMCA welcomes and encourages individuals of all abilities to experience Camp Lakewood. Our Inclusion Services Department takes applications and conducts assessments. This process provides us with the information needed to allow us to arrange for appropriate staffing or other reasonable accommodations. Parents/guardians must notify Camp Lakewood by May 15th to ensure that the YMCA has time to evaluate and prepare appropriately for your camper’s visit. Providing accurate information regarding a child’s needs is an important part of the application process. Any inaccuracies or omissions on the application will put the camper’s participation in YMCA programs in jeopardy.
Because of the generous donations to our Capital Campaign, Camp Lakewood’s cabins and lounge are more accessible than ever for children with disabilities. Call the Lakewood office at 314-241-9622 for more information.

YMCA Camp Lakewood is located 75 miles south of St. Louis between Potosi and Steelville, Missouri. Camp Lakewood is a branch of the YMCA of Greater St. Louis and is accredited by the American Camping Association.
