YMCA Trout Lodge & Camp Lakewood will put Christian principles into...

Blair Bolick

Nickname: Tennessee
Hometown: Hendersonville, TN
Age: 18
University: University of Tennessee
Major: Journalism & Electronic Media
How long I've been at Lakewood: 3rd year
Sports/Hobbies: I love to play soccer and to cook. I enjoy going to the park, and anything that will keep me outside all day. I love to take advantage of the Smokies when I'm back home, whether it be hiking, camping or white water rafting.
Why I chose to work at Lakewood this summer: I think it's an incredible camp, and I've loved every minute of working here. Each summer is better than the last, and I truly believe camp is something every child needs to experience. I want to help children have the best summer of their lives.
My dream job: A friend of my brother's helped design the sole of Chaco sandals, and now has four big meetings a year, and spends the rest of the time backpacking and buying nice camping equipment. How sweet is that!?
Future career: I love sports broadcasting or journalism and PR, but I'm really torn with the desire to work with those who have disabilities. I would love to work for Special Olympics like my father, or any job where I could teach children outside of a classroom setting.
How I chose my nickname: It's really this long and intense story, so I'll save you the time... I'm from Tennessee. (I know, so unique.)
The best part about camp/kids: I love working with children who are all so different, but can come together with their common love for camp. It's incredible to see a child, who was maybe quite skeptical at the beginning of camp, tear up at the end of the week at the thought of leaving their new friends. Camp is a place where you can come and be your true self, and I love when children discover that.
One thing I hope to experience this summer is: I want to go up in the St. Louis Arch while I'm here! :) As a counselor, I want to make sure all campers have the best overnight trip possible!
One thing children will remember most about me: They will remember my laugh (wonderful, horrible, you decide..), my energy, and the way I overuse the word "ya'll."
My favorite food, animal, song, book or movie: I LOVE saltine crackers and potatoes. I think they are my two comfort foods!
A quote or phrase that best represents me: "Live the life you love, Love the life you live." (The always wise Bob Marley) Ultimately, the happiness of yourself and others is all that really matters.
Additional comments: I cannot wait to meet you and your child!
