How long I've been at Lakewood: First year
Sports/Hobbies: Journalism and writing, editing and design, photography, reading, missions trips and traveling, music, spontaneous dance parties, smiling, laughing and loving life!
Why I chose to work at Lakewood this summer:I love working with kids and when a previous counselor introduced me to Lakewood, I fell in love with the facility. Now that I am here, I couldn't imagine spending my summer anywhere else.
My dream job: Traveling the world on Vanity Fair's tab--writing stories and taking pictures for cover stories.
Future career: I follow my dreams :)
How I chose my nickname: I chose my name to remind me of my favorite place back home--the beach.
The best part about camp/kids: The amazing friendships of the counselors, the excitement and joy of the kids and, of course, the gorgeous lake!
One thing I hope to experience this summer is:
Overcoming my fear of geese so I can walk back to East Camp without an escort.
One thing children will remember most about me: My "California" laugh-which gets used often :)
My favorite food, animal, song, book or movie: I LOVE Mexican food and will eat salsa on just about anything (even spaghetti!). My favorite animals are tigers-Go Mizzou! New Slang by the Shins always brings a smile to my face. The Bible gives me comfort and direction in my life. And, Back to the Future will always remain at the top of my very long favorite movie list.
A quote or phrase that best represents me:“Horatio, what a wounded name, things standing thus unknown, shall live behind me! If thou didst ever hold me in thy heart, absent thee from felicity awhile, and in this harsh world draw thy breath in pain, to tell my story.”-Shakespeare's Hamlet
