YMCA Trout Lodge & Camp Lakewood will put Christian principles into...

Katherine Simeon

Nickname: ¡Grande!
Hometown: St. Louis, MO
Age: 17
School: MICDS High School
How long I've been at Lakewood: 6 years as a camper, 1 year as a CIT (counselor in training)
Sports/Hobbies: I'm a varsity cheerleader and pole vaulter and I'm a Big Sister in the "Big Brothers Big Sisters" program.
Why I chose to work at Lakewood this summer: When I was a camper here I loved going to camp. I always looked up to the counselors and wanted to become one.
My dream job: I want to be a neonatal surgeon because I love working with babies and in the medical field.
How I chose my nickname: I was named during my CIT program in the summer of 2006 by my fellow CITs. They thought it would be ironic to name me ¡Grande! because I was by far the smallest and the shortest CIT and somehow during teambuilding I always seemed to be the one being lifted into the air.
The best part about camp/kids: Having fun and making a difference.
One thing I hope to experience this summer is: I hope to try new things and take more risks outside of my comfort zone.
One thing children will remember most about me: I'm a lot of fun! I love playing games, singing songs, doing activities, etc!
My favorite food, animal, song, book or movie: My favorite book is "Runaway Jury" by John Grisham. I love Grisham's books and this is one of the most intriguing and suspenseful. My favorite movie is "V for Vendetta," about a revolution in England because it shows the difference that one person can make in a lifetime.
A quote or phrase that best represents me: "The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem." (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants)
