Kristyn Stauber
Nickname: Duck Bob
Hometown: Wildwood, MO
Age: 19
University: Southern Illinois University - Carbondale
Major: Outdoor Recreation
How long I've been at Lakewood: 8 years
Sports/Hobbies: I love being outdoors, kayaking, rock climbing, swimming, and camping.
Why I chose to work at Lakewood this summer: I love Camp Lakewood. I have been coming to this camp since I was 10-years-old and I think it is amazing.
My dream job: To own a summer camp, or work somewhere with children.
Future career: Hopefully a camp director or something with children.
How I chose my nickname: When I was a camper in East Camp, I could never remember anyone's name, so we as a cabin decided to make up nicknames. I was called Bob, then when I was in the LDP program, I got "Duck" added on to it because my counselor's name was Sideshow Bob. He said my name was too short, so the "Duck" part was added.
The best part about camp/kids: The kids are the best part. I love being able to connect with the campers and make a difference. Watching children grow as individuals is so amazing and to be a part of that is awesome.
One thing I hope to experience this summer is: I hope to learn something new - that is my goal every summer.
One thing children will remember most about me: That I'm crazy. Campers write home to their parents all the time saying that "Duck Bob is weird," or "Duck Bob is crazy."
My favorite food, animal, song, book or movie: My two favorite books are "The Giving Tree," by Shel Silverstein and "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" by Dr. Seuss.
A quote or phrase that best represents me: "Life is 10% what you make it, and 90% how you take it." - Irving Berlin
