Snorkels

Hi! My name is Laura, but at camp I am known as Snorkels. I was born near Kansas City, MO and now live in Des Moines, IA.

As a kid I always wanted to grow up and become a camp counselor because I thought my camp counselors were the coolest people I had ever met. On top of that I love working with kids, and watching them learn and grow as individuals.

This is my third summer here at YMCA Camp Lakewood, and I couldn't be more excited to be back!

This summer I am serving camp as the Savannahs Unit Director, and I can't wait to play lots of fun and exciting unit activities!

When I have time I love hanging out with friends, being outside exploring and playing games such as blockus, telephone Pictionary and tag.

Most of the time I have tons of energy, and I love to learn and experience new stuff all of the time.

Traveling and learning about other people and their cultures is one of my favorites. I like playing most all sports, and I love to run. Sometimes I laugh about how I can run for 2 or 3 hours, however I can't sit still and focus for 15 minutes to get work done at a computer.

Peanut butter is one food I could probably not live without, and I tend to eat a lot of it.

One quote from Ghandi I like to try and live life by is "you must be the change you wish to see in the world", and I try to have a positive attitude and a good day everyday.
