Laura Carson
Nickname: Snorkels
Hometown: Lee's Summit, MO
Age: 21
University: Drake University
Major: Pharmacy, Diabetes, Mathematics, Sociology
How long I've been at Lakewood: 2nd year
Sports/Hobbies: Basketball, softball, riding my bike, running, being outside, pictures/scrapbooks, learning about different cultures.
Why I chose to work at Lakewood this summer: I enjoyed it last summer.
My dream job: A pharmacist on a team of medical professionals providing care to children in impoverished areas within and outside the United States.
Future career: Pharmacist
How I chose my nickname: It was given to me by my CIT (counselor in training) counselor because I dressed in full snorkeling gear to make a camper laugh. Plus I love how it feels to be underwater while wearing snorkeling goggles. It's what I imagine it would feel like to be in outer space, except it's underwater.
The best part about camp/kids: Watching the kids experience and discover new things. I love their curiosity, happiness and energy.
One thing I hope to experience this summer is: Something I've never experienced before.
One thing children will remember most about me: I'm allergic to almost everything. I try to always have a good day, have fun, and be positive.
My favorite food, animal, song, book or movie: I love Peanut Butter Panda Puff's cereal and tater tots from Sonic. Ace of Cakes is a show on TLC which I love to watch. The use of their imagination and creativity with the cakes they create is amazing!
A quote or phrase that best represents me: "Be the change in the world that you want to see." (Ghandi) "People whose main concern is their own happiness seldom find it." (Unknown)
