How to have the perfect Valentine’s Day

As we approach February, it’s time to start thinking about Valentine’s Day. Here are a few tips to help you have what we hope will be the perfect day for you and your special someone. Plan First off, you cannot leave the planning until Feb. 13. Restaurants will be booked, chocolates and cards will be picked over and the flowers shops will be sold out. So start your planning now by doing a little detective work to find out exactly what would make your partner's life easier, happier or even just something they’d enjoy? Not getting many clues? Then phone a friend. Ask someone else who spends time with them what they think would be good. Think outside the box Do you always do the same things and go the same places? If so, use Valentine’s Day to shake things up! Try a restaurant you’ve been meaning to go to. Plan a scavenger hunt that leads him or her to something special. If it’s warm enough, go on a hike followed by a special lunch somewhere. Whatever you do, make sure it is unique to your relationship. Give a gift from the heart Something homemade can be sweet — but tread lightly and have a backup plan. The best part about a DIY gift is being able to tailor your present to the recipient. The biggest risk is trying to make it look perfect or it not working out, leaving you stuck scrambling at the last minute. But if you don’t have the crafting gift, or the time, or the desire to make something, get creative in a different way by buying something from a store and then adding a special note or taking the time to wrap it yourself. Book a getaway to Trout Lodge Our Valentine’s Day Weekend is a chance to reconnect with one another. We have created a whole bunch of ways for you two to have a blast with one another. Every couple is different so we have something for everyone. We have campfires, hot cocoa, trivia, a candlelit dinner, dancing, wine-tasting, couple massages—everything! Plus all the regular adventure activities are open to you, too! Like archery and zip lining. Check it out online or call 888-FUN-YMCA. Most importantly have fun planning out your ideal weekend or day together. After all, this day is about you two.
