Military Family Discount

Here at YMCA Camp Lakewood, we are very proud and appreciative of the men and women serving in the armed forces and their families who serve in their own way. We also believe strongly in doing what we can to offer our services to help those military families.

We began a partnership with the Armed Services YMCA from Fort Leonard Wood in summer of 2009. In the beginning, we were able to offer a summer camp experience to children of active duty military families at no cost to the family through a grant from The Sierra Club. We were also able to work with the ASYMCA to bring out military families for family camp weekends during the school year. This was a great opportunity for the military children to come to camp and experience the life-changing impact that a summer resident camp can bring. The family camps were also a great opportunity for the families to spend quality time together in a beautiful setting, trying new activities and bonding as a family. Unfortunately, the funding for this program has been discontinued and we are no longer able to offer summer camp to these families free of charge. However, because YMCA Camp Lakewood does believe strongly in honoring our military families and doing what we can to offer a helping hand, we have again decided to partner with the ASYMCA to offer some very special rates for summer camp to children of families with active duty military parent(s).

There are three different rates that will be available to active duty military families, ranging from $150-$250. This is a significant savings from our usual summer camp rate of $575. Families will qualify for these different rates depending on their military pay grade. Of course, as always, one of the founding principles of the YMCA is that no one is turned away due to inability to pay. If additional assistance is needed, we welcome financial assistance applications and will gladly work with military families to make sure their children get the opportunity for a great summer camp experience!
