General Function
Rate: $7.50 per Hour
Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Director, the cooks are generally responsible for the preparation, cooking, baking, and dishing of all foods served at YMCA of the Ozarks and Camp Lakewood. They are also responsible for the cleaning of YMCA of the Ozarks and Camp Lakewood Food Service facilities, which at times may include dining areas adjacent to kitchen facilities. They are responsible for insuring that work areas are kept clean for safety and health purposes. They ultimately provide out guests with the highest possible quality food served in the safest possible manner.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Cooks operate on a rotating basis, performing tasks that will include but not limited to:
1. Cooking
2. Baking
3. Seasoning
4. Salad preparation
5. Serving
6. Barbecuing
7. Preparation of snacks for catering events
8. Special dinner, banquets, and requests for catering events
9. Any other tasks assigned by a Food Service Manager or Lead Cook
2. Follow established policies and procedures of all phases of the YMCA of the Ozarks employee handbook.
3. At times cooks may be requested to wash dishes, serve as waitresses, or perform other duties, in low enrollment periods, or when it is impossible to secure student help.
4. Must wear approved uniforms; hairnets or hats; nametags; and follow prescribed health and hygiene codes as prescribed by the Food Service Director and wear clean apron when on serving line.
5. Must complete daily and weekly cleaning checklist by completion of each shift.
6. Must work with speed and accuracy in order to complete all assigned tasks with in the scheduled workday.

Skills and Requirements
Education:
No degrees or certain level of education is required to perform this job function.
Experience:
One year of food service related work experience is preferred but not necessary. On- site training is provided.
Special skills, Licenses, Certifications or Equipment:
Must be able to read and understand recipes
Serve Safe certification is a plus but not mandatory for this position.
Basic knowledge of cooking and cook temperatures.
“Clean as you go” work ethic is a must.
