Hello there! Welcome to the YMCA of the Ozarks blog!

My name is Sacagawea (not really, but I go by my camp name). I started my career at YMCA of the Ozarks as a cabin counselor in 2005 for Camp Lakewood. After working at camp for four summers and upon my graduation from the University of Missouri, I continued working here as the graphic designer. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy it! In fact, I enjoy it so much so that I’ve decided to share my experiences with everyone, hence the beginning of my YMCA of the Ozarks blog.

MelG, the Marketing Director and my super scary boss (just kidding!) will be posting to the blog as well. You’ll meet her soon enough. We as the Marketing Department feel it’s important for everyone to see why we work here. She left her job in New York City for this place. I graduated from Mizzou with a Bachelor of Journalism. We got scoffed at and told we were crazy for moving out here, yet here we are, beginning our YMCA career together in the middle of Southeast Missouri. With this blog, we hope to show you why…
