Camp Lakewood is Open

Amidst H1N1 concerns at other camps in the state, we'd like to assure you that Camp Lakewood is open, and that precautions are taken at Camp Lakewood to create a safe and healthy camping experience.

YMCA camping has one of the longest histories of organized camping in the United States, and Camp Lakewood serves up to 3,000 campers each summer. In addition, the YMCA is the single largest childcare provider in the state of Missouri.

You may have read or heard about the Center for Disease Control's recommendations for summer day and residential camps. These recommendations have been standard procedure at Camp Lakewood for many years.

Campers at Camp Lakewood maintain good hygiene and are taught to use good hand washing habits. Hand sanitizers are provided, and staff sanitize common areas regularly.

YMCA Camp Lakewood has a registered nurse on duty twenty four hours per day, seven days a week, and Camp Lakewood has a medical doctor on call and available daily for campers and camp staff.

If your child is feeling ill prior to attending Camp Lakewood, please keep your child at home. If openings are available in other sessions of camp, we are happy to change your camper's reservation to a future date when they are feeling well.

YMCA Camp Lakewood is an ACA Certified Camp. For more information on the ACA's standards surrounded H1N1, please visit the ACA's website.
