We have so many incredible and varied activities that we barely have room to list them all, but we are certainly going to try. In addition to arts & crafts, water and adventure activities, check out our other things to do. WOW! Trout Lodge is really right in the middle of the action.
Archery: This “classic camp” activity includes safety instruction, tips and practice time. Ages 5+
Archery Balloon Pop: This is a special archery time to enjoy a friendly competition and see who can pop the most balloons attached to the archery target. Ages 5+
Balloon Animals: Learn how to create balloon animals. This activity includes step-by-step instructions, balloons, a balloon pump and an instruction manual. Maximum capacity per session is 10.
Bicycles: Check out a bicycle and explore the Trout Lodge property! Located at the Boathouse (spring/summer/fall) or Hawkins Pavilion (early spring, late fall, winter).
Bingo: Bingo is a great activity for all ages, with prizes for the kids!
Bird Watching: Stop at the Front Desk for a booklet that will show you some of the birds you may see as you set out on a wildlife expedition along our trails.
Board Games: The Front Desk stocks a variety of family-friendly board games.
Bocce: Head over to the Boathouse (spring/summer/fall) or Hawkins Pavilion (early spring, late fall, winter) for this equipment.
Dart Art: Create a work of art while perfecting your dart throwing skills by popping paint-filled balloons attached to poster paper. As you pop the balloons, multiple-colored paint splatters onto the poster board, creating a one-of-a-kind masterpiece made just by you. Ages 8+
Disc Golf: Head over to the Boathouse (spring/summer/fall) or Hawkins Pavilion (early spring, late fall, winter) for this equipment.
Drum Circles: This is a beginner’s course on how to play a Djembe drum. Ages 5+
Face Painting: A tiger, a butterfly, a whale, a super hero? Have your face painted by our staff – and the kids can do it too!!
Facility Tour: A 30-minute van tour to give you and your family/group an overview of just how expansive and beautiful our property at Trout Lodge and Camp Lakewood is.
Fitness/Work Out: You must be at least 16 years old to use or be present in the fitness room. The code required to enter the fitness room is available at the Front Desk.
Frisbee: Frisbees can be obtained at the Boathouse (spring/summer/fall) or Hawkins Pavilion (early spring, late fall, winter).
Geocaching Orientation: Learn to use a GPS unit so you can try geocaching on your own. You must attend this orientation before you can check out the GPS equipment from the Front Desk. Maximum of 10 participants per session.
Geocaching: GPS Equipment is available for check out at the Front Desk after orientation course has been completed.
Geology Hike: This guided tour will teach you about the ancient geological history of Trout Lodge through an exploration of the processes that contribute to this beautiful wooded environment. Maximum of 20 participants per session.
Gym/Rec. Center: Practice hoops, start a game of dodgeball and use up some energy on a rainy day.
Hiking: Take a self-guided hike through our property. Hiking maps are available at the Front Desk, and we HIGHLY encourage that you please check out and in with the Front Desk for your safety.
Horseshoes: Equipment available at the Boathouse (spring/summer/fall) or Hawkins Pavilion (early spring, late fall, winter).
Kid’s Club: This kids-only program features special activities such as face painting, a craft, a game or other activities. Parents can “take a break” for an hour while kids get to explore their creative side. All children participating must be potty-trained. Ages 4-10
Kite-Making: Trout Lodge is the perfect place to “go fly a kite”! With staff instruction, put together your own Delta kite with a simple kite-making kit, and decorate your kite with colorful markers. Then hope for a breezy day so you can try your kite out. Ages 5+
Library: We have books! If you can’t finish a book you started, just swap a book you’ve brought with you. Book donations are always greatly appreciated. Located on the third floor of Trout Lodge.
Mat Ball: Enjoy kickball? Let’s add a twist! Following all of the standard rules of kickball, instead of bases, full-sized mats are used. As a player advances to a mat, subsequent players may advance to the mat as well, until each one is ready to run to the next base. Must wear closed-toe shoes. This is an evening program activity.
Mini-Golf: Our 19-hole mini-golf course is located next to the Country Store, with equipment available on a first-come-first-served basis.
Mud Cave: A guest favorite! Explore Trout Lodge’s very own cave system where you are guaranteed to get muddy! Make sure to wear clothes and (appropriate) footwear that you won’t mind getting dirty. Ages 8+ and available from late spring to mid-fall.
Nature Center: Visit our “critter corner” for an up close and personal look at a collection of animals that hop, crawl, slither and meander. Kids especially love to look at and touch our animals.
Nature Hike: This day time one-mile scenic tour of our wooded property winds along our wooded trails.
Night Hikes: Similar to our day time nature hikes, this takes place at night.
Paintball: Are you competitive? Then our paintball course is just the ticket. Our “spider web” wooded course is perfect for beginners and up, and includes safety orientation, equipment rental and variety of games to play using paintball markers. Must wear closed-toe shoes and long sleeves/pants. Ages 12+. Children ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Ping Pong: Our ping pong table is located on the outdoor back patio (near the back deck) on the first floor. Balls and paddles are available at the Front Desk.
(Air) Rifle: After safety introduction, learn how to use .22 caliber air rifles and try out your skills. Ages 8+. Children ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Riflery: After a safety introduction, learn how to use our .22 caliber rifles and try out your skills. Children ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Rifle Safari: Imagine yourself in Africa when you see dangerous balloon predators. Take aim at our Rifle Range for this fun and exciting balloon animal safari experience. Ages 10+. Children ages 17 & under must be accompanied by an adult.
Rocketry: Build your own rocket with the help of our staff. Once your rocket has been constructed, you’ll have the opportunity to launch your rocket (separate time), however we cannot guarantee your ability to retrieve your rocket afterwards. Children who require one-on-one assistance must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 5+
Sand Volleyball: What recreational facility would be complete without a volleyball court? Located in front of the mini-golf course and beside the Country Store, get your teams together and pound it out. Don’t worry about diving for the ball – it’s on sand. Volleyballs are located at the Boathouse (spring/summer/fall) or Hawkins Pavilion (early spring, late fall, winter).
Scavenger Hunts: If you love a good scavenger hunt, we have two to choose from, or do both! See the Front Desk for the list, and when you’re done, come back to claim your prize!
Shotgun Basics: Our staff will instruct you how to use, point and shoot a shotgun, then you’ll get a chance to shoot at clay pigeons. We have both adult and youth model shotguns. Ages 12+ and must weigh at least 90 lbs. Children ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum of 10 participants per session. Please allow two hours for this activity.
Shuffleboard: Equipment is available at the Boathouse (spring/summer/fall) or Hawkins Pavilion (early spring, late fall, winter) and located beside the mini-golf course.
Skeet Shooting: Take your shot at this challenging sportsman’s game. Clay targets will cross in front of you, sometimes two at a time! We recommend beginners start with Shotgun Basics before trying this program. Ages 12+ and must weigh at least 90 lbs. Ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum 5 participants per session. Please allow 2 hours for this activity.
Tennis: Check out balls and racquets at the Boathouse (spring/summer/fall) or Hawkins Pavilion (early spring, late fall, winter).
Trap Shooting: See how good your aim is as you take five shots at clay pigeons from each of the five trap stations. Ages 12+ and must weigh at least 90 lbs. Children ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum of 5 participants per session. Please allow 2 hours for this activity.
Washers: Check out washers equipment at the Boathouse (spring/summer/fall) or Hawkins Pavilion (early spring, late fall, winter).
