Spring Fever

Longer days and warming temperatures mean spring is right around the corner. While we are not in the clear yet and there’s still plenty of opportunity for more winter weather, there’s no harm in enjoying the beautiful weather as it comes. Here are 5 things – both indoor and outdoor – that you and the family are sure to enjoy. Go on a picnic. You have to eat, right? Why not do it while soaking up the spring sunshine? Not warm enough to go outside? No problem! Spread out a blanket and enjoy lunch in the living room. Unleash your inner artist with sidewalk chalk. For a few dollars, buy a pail of sidewalk chalk and let the kids enjoy themselves outside. They can draw, write and do whatever they’d like while enjoying the fresh air. Want to join in the fun? Have a family game of tic-tac-toe to get the competitive juices flowing. Use nature to make art. Go outside and find whatever flowers, petals, and leaves are available then use those to create art. Here are a few ideas you could replicate. Plant something. If it’s not warm enough to plant outside, you can always start the seeds inside then transfer the outdoors when the weather is right and they’re large enough. Taking care of plants is a great way to teach responsibility to your youngsters. Plus, there’s always the anticipation and excitement of watching what they planted grow. Take a road trip. Whether it’s a short weekend getaway or a week-long vacation, spring is the perfect time to get out and explore new places. At Trout Lodge we have a variety of spring programming including Pirates vs. Leprechauns themed spring break week, a Hawaiian Luau spring break week, adventure activities, recreational activities and more - all among the beauty of the Ozarks.
