Why is summer camp is important?
January 25, 2017
We think it goes without saying that we love camp. Like really, really love it. We live it. We breathe it. Our staff can’t wait to wake up with the sunrise or when the calendar turns to May and the return of campers is just around the corner. For many parents of potential campers, it’s hard to understand how we could be passionate about something that only happens three months out of the year. It’s easy. We know that camp is not just for the three months that campers are on our property or the one-week your child will be with us. We know that what our campers learn in the time they are with us are skills that will shape them for a lifetime. We know that camp will help them become who they really are in a safe environment. It will provide them the opportunity to meet people different from themselves. It will give them time to unplug and reconnect with nature. It will help them grow their independence, improve social skills and learn lifelong skills that will benefit them for years to come. Most importantly, we know that they will meet other kids who will become true and lifelong friends. Want to see Camp Lakewood for yourself or have questions?
